President Dave Silliman used his last meeting as president to summarize the Rotary activities over the past year which included:

Roly Turner becoming District Governor.

Rotary participation in the very successful World Junior Baseball Tournament.

Thunder Bay representation at the International Rotary Convention in Montreal.

Completion of the Field Of Greens project at the Salvation Army.

Ongoing activities at the Field involve many dedicated people.

Witness the kids organized by Joanne and Bob Tomlinson decorating the Field:

 Outgoing president's dinner for David Legge.

Successful district matching grant application to build a school in Sierra Leone.

A successful Lobsterfest.

Helping Rotaract fill and sell sandbags.

Volunteering to man the Santa parade.

Vanderwees greenhouse Christmas party.

Carol sing at St. Paul's United Church.

Bassie Kargbo"s leadership in the building of the school in Sierra Leone.

Polioplus dinner.

A very successful Rotary Radio Day.

A successful Rotary vacation draw.

Support for the Dance for Memories in support of the Alzheimer's association.

The 2011 Rotary District Conference.

PA Rotary Website update.

We exceeded our goals for contributions toward Polioplus and the Rotary Foundation.

Other Rotary activities not mentioned included: The Rotary Citizenship award,The Model United Nations, The Dew Drop,Shelter Box, Rotary Bridge, Rotary Golf, Trap Shooting, The Rotary House Band, Rotary Student Exchange,The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship,Rotary Group Exchange.

 

President Silliman announced (slyly) the Rotarian of the Year recipient (to few people's surprise)....Jim McDonald.

Jim is a colossus within the club in all respects. His "acceptance" speech was typically Rotarian and modest.???

 

Art Warwick announced birthdays for June including: Mark Sprovieri, Bob Tomlinson, Fraser Dougall, Cheryl Merlo,Greg Sargent, Don Chase and Pritam Lamba.
