Kevin's board of directors includes:Art Warwick, Jim McDonald, Warren Philp, Fred Baker, Bob Backstrom, Vonnie Cheng,, Murray Becotte, Harold Wilson and Alex Matiece.
Maria Hudolin is the Assistant District Governor this Rotary year.
Program: First club visit by the new District Governor, Tom Riley. Tom is an archeologist and professor of anthropology in Fargo. He addressed the club with the ideals of Rotary through the 5 avenues of service and district goals for this year.
RI president, Kalyan Banerjee, has set the theme for this year as "Reach within to embrace humanity".
Tom laid out the District Goals for 2011-2012 which included:
1. Full participation in the annual programs fund of the Rotary Foundation at a minimum contribution rate of $100/member/year (EREY=Every Rotarian Every Year).
2.Contributions to the Polio challenge at $2,000/club minimum.
3.A net increase of at least 1 new member/club.
4.A minimum increase of 3 new clubs in the district including 1 Rotaract club and 1 Interact club.
5. He is looking for 6 clubs to participate in the Rotary Vision project.
Tom mentioned Rotary's "Future Vision Plan" which will be in pilot form from 2010-2013 and move to full rollout in 2013-2014.
He congratulated our club's consistent successful annual activities and fund raising which are among the top in the district.
He closed by giving some of the qualifications for the President's Citation Award which includes minimum monetary contributions and membership recruitment and retention targets and also added increased diversity to strengthen Rotary including recruiting women, diverse professionals and ethnic members.
Finally he gave the District Conference dates and place: Black Bear Casino in Cloquet Minnesota, April 12-14, 2012; and the International Rotary Convention in Bangkok, Thailand, May 6-9, 2012.
50/50 draw pulled Kevin's number but he did not win the pot.
