Vonnie Cheng introduced our student essayists, who read their interesting efforts.

McArthur “Gender Binary
Versus Androgyny” - $200

Jonathon has appeared at Rotary before. His upfront analysis on gender identities won first prize.

2.      Shayne Castellan “Facebook” - $100

 

3.      Drustan Godin “Religion: The Essential Paradox” - $50

         Drustan's discussion on a complex topic had the audience transfixed. Note President Dave in deep contemplation.

It would be unfair to paraphrase these essays so hopefully the club can make them available in their entirety on our Navigator website.

 

Fred Baker  reminded us of contributions to motorcycle ride for dad in support of prostate cancer research locally.

 

Mo Nelson gave us an update on members under the weather. Don Chase is undergoing physiotherapy at St. Joseph's Hospital.

 

Dave Legge reminded members who need their photos taken that Patrick will be available for this soon.

Dave also alerted us to the president's celebration coming up-time and place to follow.

 

Kevin gave us a Rotary house band update and Field of Greens update.

 

Jim McDonald is organizing a pancake breakfast during the Bluesfest weekend, July 9 and 10, as a fund raiser. Volunteers are needed.

 

Doug Shanks indicated that our previous exchange student Nora Lorenz from Germany will be coming to Thunder Bay on July 7th and he will host a BBQ at his house for her on July 9th. Please let him know if you are coming.

 

John Stewart ask for space availability for the Rotary History Project team to complete their task which make take 6 months or so.

 

Bill Everett generated some funds through fines and happy dollars.

 

The 50/50 draw is over $200 and produced no winner yet.

 

President David adjourned the meeting.
