Announcements:

Bob Tomlinson asked for Rotarians to help out with the CLE parking lot with proceeds going to the Harbor Youth Services.

Laurie ask for golfers to support the George Jeffrey "Charity Golf Classic" on August 11 at the FWCC.

Jim reminded members of the Rotary Golf Tournament coming up on August 17 at the TBCC and prizes are needed.

Jackie let members know that government matching dollars are available for donations to Shelter Box in East Africa.

David Silliman thanked all who helped and organized the Dew Drop In last week which served about 130 needy people for about $150.

Camilla gave an update saying she graduated from high school and will start University as a business major.

 

Program:

Vonnie introduced Kaitlyn Spurvey who is with Service Canada and is living and pursuing higher education in Thunder Bay.

Kaitlyn gave a very rapid and brief presentation of 3 initiatives of Service Canada geared to providing employment opportunities to youth and graduates in order to gain experience, knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the job market.

1. Career Focus is a program geared to those 15-30 years of age who are post-secondary school graduates and out of school.

2. Skills Link is for those 15-30 years of age, out of school and in need of assistance to overcome barriers to employment.

3. ROE Web is a user friendly web based site for prospective employers to register with Service Canada.

 

Laurie collected fines and happy dollars.

 

The 50/50 pot survived another week.
