The Rotary District is an administrative unit of Rotary International. The District Governor is the only officer of Rotary International in the District and bears the ultimate responsibility for governance. District 5580 has taken the initiative to share the Governor’s duties with the District Governor-Elect, the District Governor-Nominee and the Foundation Chair (see District Organizational Chart on Page 2). This lightens the workload of the current Governor and provides a valuable learning experience for incoming Governors. The activities and organization of the District exist solely to assist the individual clubs to advance the Object of Rotary via the programs and funding opportunities of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation.
Participation on all District Committees is open to Rotarians throughout the District and often results in lasting friendships and fellowship opportunities. Traditionally, committees have met face to face but the use of electronic media such as teleconferencing and webinars is increasing. More information including District Committees; Club locations and meeting times; District Directory; District Events; roster of all Rotarians in the District; Programs; Projects and many interesting Rotary links is available on the District 5580 Website at: http://www.clubrunner.ca/5580.
